Plaster-jute method | What is the plaster-jute method?
The plaster-jute method is a patented method that can be used when constructing a swimming pool. Where the sidewall of a swimming pool of any shape requires a 45-degree bevel or steeper, this is the most suitable method. This method ensures that the substrate is properly prepared for the laying of glass fibre mats with polyester resin. Jute fabric, which is soaked in gypsum board, creates a sealed layer, allowing the soil to be directly covered with glass mats impregnated with resin. To cover the substrate with glass mats impregnated with resin, two requirements must be met. Firstly, the substrate must be hard enough when rolling out the glass mats with resin, so that any air bubbles present between the fibres are rolled out as the glass mat is impregnated. Secondly, the substrate must form a continuous layer to prevent the syrupy polyester resin from being absorbed out of the glass mat by the soil. As the resin remains liquid for 40 minutes after being applied to the glass mat, most of it would otherwise seep into the soil. With the gypsum-jute method, the substrate fully meets these two requirements.
