Polyester resin is a cold-curing synthetic resin that is applied together with fibreglass matting to a stable substrate, such as concrete. This creates a strong, durable and waterproof structure that is ideally suited to ornamental ponds, reflecting pools and swimming ponds.

To help you complete your project successfully, V-Sure has developed a clear step-by-step installation guide.

• Step 1: Prepare the substrate

  Make sure the substrate is stable, dry and suitable for the application. Any uneven areas or defects should be repaired beforehand.

• Step 2: Apply the primer and bonding coat

  Apply the appropriate primer to ensure optimum adhesion between the substrate and the polyester laminate.

• Step 3: Laminate with fibreglass mat and polyester resin

  Apply two layers of fibreglass mat in combination with liquid polyester resin to create a strong and durable laminate.

• Step 4: Finish with a UV-resistant topcoat

  Finish the pond with a high-quality topcoat to create a waterproof, colour-stable and UV-resistant final layer.

Flexovoss K6S is a high-quality two-component polyurethane casting resin designed to electrically insulate components and provide durable protection against water and moisture. Thanks to its excellent adhesion and water resistance, it is particularly suitable for use in damp and demanding environments.

Repairing leaking metal, copper, lead or PVC water pipes

Recommended product: Epoxy Solomet

A leaking water pipe often requires a fast and reliable repair.

Epoxy Solomet is a fast-curing, two-component epoxy repair putty suitable for sealing leaks in metal, copper, lead and PVC pipes. It provides excellent adhesion, even on damp substrates, and can be used for reliable temporary repairs or, depending on the application and condition of the pipe, more permanent repairs.

Bonding polyester to PVC

Recommended product: PVC Primer

Good adhesion is essential where polyester structures connect to existing PVC pipes or fittings.

Our special PVC Primer creates a reliable bonding surface between PVC and polyester resin, helping to achieve a durable and secure connection.

Filling the space between two PVC pipes

Recommended product: Flexovoss K6S

Any void between two PVC components should be filled correctly to help prevent water ingress and unwanted movement.

Flexovoss K6S is a low-odour, low-shrinkage, two-component polyurethane casting resin with excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates. Once cured, it forms a strong yet tough and flexible seal.

Repairing a crack in polyester under water

Recommended products:

• Epoxy Solomet

• H30 Azur Laminating Resin

• 450 g/m² Fibreglass Mat

• Topcoat T35-1

For a quick emergency repair under water, we recommend Epoxy Solomet. This epoxy repair putty also cures under water and can therefore be used to seal a leak temporarily.

For a permanent and durable repair, the water level should be lowered. The damaged area can then be repaired using H30 Azur Laminating Resin, 450 g/m² Fibreglass Mat andTopcoat T35-1 as the protective finishing layer

This repair method restores the structural strength and watertight integrity of the polyester laminate.
