Tear tissues are used in both vacuuming and manual lamination. This involves applying the tear fabric over the last layer of the total build to strip off the top layer later during the curing process, which saves a lot of sanding but also produces a smoother end result
Perforex film | What is perforex film?
These are used to control the flow of resin to a greater or lesser extent during the vacuum process. Sufficient resin must remain in the laminate to ensure a good bond between the fibres themselves and any core material. For this reason, various films are available with either many or few perforations. For more information, see: https://v-sure.eu/products/all-products/
Phenolic resin | What is phenolic resin?
The raw material for phenolic resin is phenol formaldehyde. Phenol formaldehyde resins are formed by a condensation reaction between a phenol and an aldehyde. Usually, phenolic resin is used in combination with other binders. Phenolic resin finds its application in acid-curing paints, interior painting products and boat paints, among others.
Phlegmatising | What is phlegmatising?
Phlegmatisation is making substances less reactive or non-explosive by adding inerting substances.
Pickling | What is pickling?
Pickling has two meanings. Firstly, it is a procedure to give wood an attractive appearance. An additional advantage here is that staining gives protection against moisture. There are water- and oil-based stains. All types of wood can be stained. It is important to prepare the wood properly by sanding it smooth and making it dust-free. Stain can be applied with a brush as well as with a cloth. Secondly, pickling is also the name for treating metals with (weak) acids. Pickling deeply cleans the surface and removes, for example, mill scale. Pickling is therefore done in preparation for applying an additional surface layer, or to bring out the crystal structure better for microscopic examination.
Plaster-jute method | What is the plaster-jute method?
The plaster-jute method is a patented method that can be used when constructing a swimming pool. Where the sidewall of a swimming pool of any shape requires a 45-degree bevel or steeper, this is the most suitable method. This method ensures that the substrate is properly prepared for the laying of glass fibre mats with polyester resin. Jute fabric, which is soaked in gypsum board, creates a sealed layer, allowing the soil to be directly covered with glass mats impregnated with resin. To cover the substrate with glass mats impregnated with resin, two requirements must be met. Firstly, the substrate must be hard enough when rolling out the glass mats with resin, so that any air bubbles present between the fibres are rolled out as the glass mat is impregnated. Secondly, the substrate must form a continuous layer to prevent the syrupy polyester resin from being absorbed out of the glass mat by the soil. As the resin remains liquid for 40 minutes after being applied to the glass mat, most of it would otherwise seep into the soil. With the gypsum-jute method, the substrate fully meets these two requirements.
Polishing | What is polishing?
Bringing back to gloss using fine polishing paper (slurry) and a polishing paste of a plastic surface. For more information, see https://v-sure.eu/applications/boat/repairing-and-polishing-your-boat/
Polyester | What is polyester?
Unsaturated polyester (UP) comprises a diversity of resins that find their application in numerous applications. They are usually used in combination with fibre for reinforcement. For more info, visit; https://v-sure.eu/products/polyester/
Polymer concrete | What is polymer concrete?
Polyconcrete or polymer concrete is a resin and sand combination that are mixed together to produce an extremely strong, waterproof and chemically resistant mortar. Depending on the amount of sand added to the resin, the resin remains pourable or can be processed like a mortar. As for the resin, one can use an epoxy or the cheaper polyester resin here.
Polyurethane | What is polyurethane?
Polyurethanes ( PUR) comprise a wide range of resins and foams. They consist of a polyol and an isocyanate. for more info, see: https://v-sure.eu/products/polyurethane/
Pressure deformation | What is pressure deformation?
Pressure deformation is the deformation of a material due to pressure, also known as creep.
Pressure gun | What is pressure gun?
A pressure gun is used as an alternative to canisters with a hose. Using a pressure gun reduces the residual by an average of 70 grams compared to canisters with a tube.
Pressure resistance | What is pressure resistance?
Pressure resistance expresses the resistance the material offers to pressure.
Pressurised | What is pressurised?
Pressure resistant means resistant to pressure. Pressure resistance indicates the extent to which the material can withstand pressure loads.
