Working with resins
Working with resins like polyester and epoxy requires some alertness. We ask you to pay attention to the following general precautions when working with substances such as polyester.
- Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes
- Do not smoke, drink or eat when using products
- Wear appropriate protective clothing
- Remove and wash contaminated clothing before proceeding
- Work in a well-ventilated and well-lit area.
- Work in an orderly fashion to avoid accidents
The right protection
Respiratory protection
Always wear a well-fitting face mask when preparing and processing resins. For example, we suggest you work with the Starmask face mask. Are you going to work on a large project or do you need long-term protection? Then we recommend working with a respiratory mask with replaceable filters. Make sure to replace the filters in time.
Hand protection
Always wear sturdy and well-fitting gloves when preparing and processing resins. Robust' refers to non-permeable and resistant to corrosive chemicals that can be harmful to the skin. Before starting a new application, check whether your gloves are still in good condition.
Eye protection
Always wear properly fitting safety goggles when preparing and applying hardener. Make sure these glasses fit closely around the nose and side of your head. Before starting work, check that there are no damages on the glasses that could impair vision.
Body protection
Always wear appropriate work clothes when preparing and processing resins. Here we recommend working with disposable work overalls. Make sure you choose the right coverall, so that it fits well to the body but gives you enough room to move to work practically.
Cleaning of...
Work safely but got a few stains? The best way to clean a work surface is with acetone or Cleaner A. Watch out for fire hazards!
V-Sure also has a non-flammable cleaner called Cleaning Agent M for cleaning substrates that have been worked on with epoxy, polyester or polyurethane.
